Last week was all about decompressing from the year - so I didn't do anything for my classroom! I have been trying to focus on my craft/teacher/office room and getting everything all organized. I was inspired by a pin I found on pinterest. I changed mine up a tad though. Here is my inspiration!
My inspiration:
Source: DIY Maven
My creation:
The original craft used foam, I used stretched canvas. I went to Hobby Lobby, a local craft store, and lucked out! They had a pack of 2 11x14 for 6$, plus I had a 40% off coupon. I found fabrics with different patterns (quilting quarter flats work perfectly). I just stretched the fabric and stapled it to the back. Super simple! If you used the quarter flats, the hard work of matching is already done for you since they sell them in group of coordinating fabrics. My craft room is going to be black/white/lime green!
I love the way they turned out! But....this inspired me to use left over fabric that I had. Awhile back I had a blogger friend (I'd give credit, but she isn't blogging anymore) who came up with this great idea to use the cork trivets from IKEA as a pin-board (bulletin board). She had painted hers, but I though I could hot glue the fabric. I love the way these turned out too!
Hi, I love your inspiration and ideas. I am doing something similar. I have a first floor bedroom that is no longer being used as a bedroom and I am making it into my scrapbook/craft room. I am going to use my dining room as my office/writing area (I'm tucked into a corner). I am new to blogging and having so much fun reading.
ReplyDeleteHI! Glad to see you blogging again:) Thanks for linking up:))) LOVE your boards and cork boards!!! Your craft room is gonna be awesome!!! Hope ya come back and link up again with your next project next Monday:))

Fun is Found in Fourth
How cute! I'm not known for being super crafty, but I think I could handle this project. We are moving into a new house in about a month and wouldn't that just be perfect in my office. Thanks for sharing!

Learning Is Something to Treasure
Thank you everyone! Yes it was super simple and ANYONE can do it! They're a great way to add some art to a room very cheaply. I want to say both projects cost me less than 25$. I didn't realize the quarter flats worked until I had already purchased most of the other designs, so I still have fabric left over. I plan to do something similar in my bedroom too!
ReplyDeleteYES! I'm so excited to find another 3rd grade blog to follow :) I love your creation! I've been trying to come up with some new unique wall art... this has definite possibilities. Thanks for sharing it!
